It is extremely easy to go on a trip and spend buckets of money. Between the accommodations and food to the fun activities and transportation, money just seems to fly out the window. Over my years, I have definitely been on the trips where my money disappears like a magic trick, but it has been a fantastic learning experience because I now have come up with a few easy ways to save money while traveling. Today, I wanted to share with you my tips for saving money in New Jersey!

Easy Ways To Save Money On Your Trip To New Jersey

  • Find free or inexpensive activities

There are so many free and inexpensive things to do in the New Jersey area and they are relatively easy to scout out. All you have to do is complete a quick Google search to find fun activities! I searched “Free things to do in New Jersey” and got so many options. For example, a few attractions that came up were: Cape May County Park and Zoo, Twin Lights Historic Site, Bridgeton Hall of Fame All Sports Museum, and more. Before you take your trip, do a small amount of research, write down your results and it will save you so much money in the end! You will be so thankful that you did this before your trip.

  • Rent a vacation home

Hotels typically charge an arm and a leg and you usually end up with a small to medium sized room. If you are traveling with family, or even if you are traveling alone, you know that you can use the extra room that a house has to offer! Instead of staying in a cramped hotel room, opt for a more spacious vacation home. You will not only end up with more space, but you will be much happier, in my opinion!

Daniels Realty is the number one Real Estate Agency in New Jersey for over twenty five years! If you are looking for a vacation home, start (and end) your search with them. Daniels Realty has one location in Diamond Beach, so it is very convenient for those that are looking to purchase or sell their home, and also those that are looking for a vacation rental. The broker and manager, Colleen Rennie is a local New Jersey resident in North Wildwood, so she knows all of the ins and outs of the city and where you should stay. She believes that “exceptional properties deserve exceptional service” and exceptional service is just what Daniels Realty provides!

  • Eat in, not out.

If you took my advice and rented your vacation home from Daniels Realty, you now have the ability to cook your own meals at home instead of going out to eat. You probably know this, but you can save SO much money by eating in vs. eating out at restaurants. I know how hard it is to eat in and stay away from restaurants when you are on vacation, so I have a few ideas to make it easier. When you arrive at your vacation home, make a list of the essentials you will need for your time there! After you figure out your essentials, make it fun by adding snacks and “treats” so that you don’t have a need to go out to a restaurant. You can buy items for picnics, meals that you will cook together, and also local food that you wouldn’t always find at the grocery store in your local city. I would budget in one or two meals out of the house – maybe one brunch (or lunch) and one dinner. That way, you do not feel like you limited yourself! When you do go out, make sure you research “inexpensive New Jersey restaurants” or “cheap eats in New Jersey” before you choose a place!

  • Carry a water bottle

This is a “money saving tip,” but it is also a health tip. Carrying a water bottle and filling it up at water fountains is a great way to save money and reduce your sugar intake for the day. Instead of purchasing sugary drinks, opt to drink water so that you are fueled for your fun adventures that day! According to Money Saving Dude, you can save $540 or more each year by drinking water out of a reusable water bottle! That is amazing!

  • Find coupons

Finding coupons is also an easy way to save a few bucks on your trip! You can find food coupons and discounts for the grocery store, coupons for the meals that you do go out for, and even coupons for the activities that you are paying to do! Groupon is one of my favorite ways to save money on activities in New Jersey. They have options for a skydiving, wine tastings, helicopter lessons, trail rides, admission to the Jersey Shore children’s museum, and more!

I hope this post will remind you that vacationing doesn’t always have to cost you an arm and a leg – you can find ways to save money! Don’t forget to check out Daniels Realty for your vacation home in the New Jersey area!
